The step that decides whether the work lasts a few months or three years. It goes on over a freshly polished lens, or over healthy headlights before they have started to yellow at all.

Why the coat is the part that matters

Any decent polish will make a headlight look good the afternoon it is done. What separates a job that holds up from one that does not is almost entirely what goes on top afterwards.

A lens that has been polished and left bare has less UV protection than it had from the factory. In strong sun the yellowing starts again almost immediately, and you end up paying for the same job before the year is out. So we do not sell the polish on its own. There would be no point.

What the coat does

Blocks UV. That is the thing that yellowed the lens to begin with.
Sheds water. Rain, road film and bugs run off instead of etching in.
Survives car washes. Ordinary detergent will not break it down.
Lasts three years. The guarantee runs the same length.

If your headlights are still clear

Coating them now is the cheapest headlight work you will ever buy, and almost nobody asks for it. Seal a lens before it starts to haze and there is never a damaged layer to sand off later. On a car under five years old that makes it the obvious thing to do.

Looking after them

Wash the lens with the rest of the car and otherwise leave it alone. Keep abrasive polishes and heavy solvents off it. Those are the two things that will cut the life of the coat short. You do not have to reapply anything or book us again.

A cracked lens or moisture inside the housing needs a new housing, not a polish. We check for both at your car before anything starts. If that is what we find, we say so and go. No call-out fee, no argument.

Bigger lenses on an SUV, truck or van, so those are $40 more on either job. Your model tells us which one you have, so we do not ask.

What does the coating actually do?

It replaces the factory UV layer that failed. Once cured, the ceramic film is bonded to the polished lens and blocking the UV that yellowed it in the first place. Water and road film run off it instead of etching in.

Can you coat headlights that are still clear?

Yes, and it is the cheapest headlight work you will ever buy. If you seal a healthy lens there is never an oxidized layer to sand off later on.

How do I look after them?

Wash them with the rest of the car. Keep abrasive polishes and heavy solvents off the lens, since those eat the coating. Nothing else to it.
